Civil Rádió is one of Hungary's oldest and largest community radio stations.

One of the most important features of Civil Radio is that, differently from national and regional media, it focuses on local community issues and is run by volunteers instead of international and national questions. Its community is particularly focused on presenting and supporting civil society and self-organisation in Budapest, and on helping to publicise and professionalise such efforts. In the music programmes, fresh amateur productions are regularly broadcasted, with concert and club news, and sometimes live “home music” (e.g. from a flat in a residential area). An important element of the musical image of Civil Radio is to present genres and music with
values that are less represented in other media - our preferred genres are folk and world music, jazz, contemporary classical music, alternative and progressive music.
