IndieRE #185 by Radio Študent, Ljubljana
Today's radio show is brought to you by Radio Študent from Ljubljana, Slovenia.
We'll start off in a danceish mood with Jimmy Barka Experience and the trio's first single off the upcoming mini album Not Feeling So Good to be self-released this Autumn. Then we'll listen to music by People I'm Not from his self-released EP U retro gradu and to a song by the duo konji from their debut demo, self-released in January.
We'll return to a dance mood listening to electronics with an industrial feel by the Slovenian and Croatian duo Black Dot off their EP Lust released in May through the record label Kri. Another duo with some more electronic and pop feel will follow, a very exciting and fresh project called Keke with their self-released debut EP Mini, and then we'll move to Katalena, a veteran Slovenian band that's celebrating 25 years of music craftsmanship. The band released their tenth album titled Meja through Radio Študent's record label Zarš.
Diving into a more guitar oriented sound we'll listen to morvern off their new album superglued released in April through Šop Records. Then we'll dive into ujma, a solo project by Vasja Onič, who self-released an EP titled horizon in May. Another new project on the Slovenian music scene, the industrial duo My Secret Grind Project, has self-released their debut EP Lions, Tigers, Bears at the end of April. Harsher guitars await us with the album Brez izhoda, brez upanja self-released at the beginning of April this year by Human Host Body, a band possessed by d-beat and playing metal for punks.
We'll listen to the everchanging Zhlehtet, a very productive collective led by the musician Rok Zalokar. They've released a new album titled Intention, Intensity, Shuffle through Radio Študent's label Zarš just two weeks ago. We'll spice things up with a wise, raw, poetic but also explicit band Svojat and their latest single Kvadrat, the second preview of their material from the upcoming album that will be released by the boutique label Ente Tapes. The music prepared is part of a concert performance or perhaps better music and theatre performance titled Fuga za narod, produced by the international performing arts platform Via Negativa. We'll conclude the broadcast with the electronic producer Miha Šajina or Shekuza with a piece from the compilation Happy Little Voltages Vol. 2 released by the Slovenian modular synth community and label Clockwork Voltage.
